What you need to bring with you:

Don’t waste your clinic money by not having the right tools (which are transferable to any horse you are working with).  There have been too many people show up without these tools and the results are not the same!  Then folks want to borrow these items from others, and we end up swapping, losing, forgetting them, and there just are not enough to “go around”.  Suggestions for obtaining noted below.

1) rope halter (this is one of your communicators for your horse – a flat band, traditional halter will not provide the pressure needed to easily direct your horse;  a.k.a. you won’t have to work as hard!)

2) 12 ft. rounded/cylindrical lead rope (this provides distance and safety from your horse to avoid getting kicked, rearing distance, etc. when “driving” your horse into/away from obstacles.)

3) Poncho (protection from rain and a tool for desensitization)

4) Water bottle (extra water to drink to stay hydrated throughout the working day)

5) Negavive Coggins papers are required to participate in the clinic

6) Proper dress for weather (wear layers, wet gear, etc.)

7) Open minded attitude – remember you’re learning.

8) Optional but very helpful – a “carrot stick” or long crop (becomes extension of your arm)

9) Greg prefers everyone use a snaffle bit for riding

10) Signed legal waiver to participate

Some of the equipment can be purchased at local feed stores or on the Internet.  The absolute, best equipment you can buy is the Parelli gear (especially the lead rope).  The Parelli products are unparalleled – they have the right feel and weight to optimize communication .  They cost more but they will last forever and through all kinds of weather/mud/washing conditions and still maintain their weight and suppleness.  Other alternatives are Nancy Cloud at groovie_girl01@hotmail.com , (a Dallas girl and B&B customer) and www.silverdollarqh.com.  The prices at these web sites are usually 30% less than the Parelli products.  I recommend that you minimally have the rope halter and extended/ rounded lead rope.
